History

Mr Antonio de Gouveia (Senior) with over 30 years experience in the cork industry founded African Cork Suppliers Pty Ltd in 1984 as a family business. Now with one of his sons, we have ensured the continuation and sustainability of this company.

Since inception of ACS into the industry we have become synonymous with the terms good service, quality and value for money. Over more than two decades we have built a truly sustainable business.

Our unwavering belief in customer service and supplying value for money products has in effect entrenched us into this market.

Recognised as one of the premier suppliers in this industry, ACS today employs approximately 25 employees and has warehousing capacity of 2500sqm for stock holding due to long import lead times of 3-6 weeks.

The company offers a printing and packaging service with a capacity of 250 000 corks per day to allow for the shortest possible lead time service to its customers actively seeks continual improvement in customer satisfaction, quality of product, strengthening of customer relations, increasing market share by merit and upholding our core company values.

1984
Mr Antonio de Gouveia Senior establishes ACS.

1996
ACS becomes a member of CTCOR continuing our dedication to research and development in the cork industry.

2001
Mr Antonio de Gouveia Junior joins ACS as continuation and succession

2003
ACS becomes a member of the newly founded SACC adhering to their requirement of cork testing procedures.

ACS takes a bold step of being the first supplier to purchase and utilise an in house GC (Gas Chromograph) in South Africa

2006
AS ACS expands, further assistance from family is required, Mr Pieter de Gouveia joins ACS as continual support to the family and business

2007
ACS implements ISO 9001:2000 compliant Quality Management System /accreditation

2008
Moves to new premises in Brackenfell Industria
